Eucalyptus marginata (32,000+ ha)
Project Type
Dye sublimation
Date
2026
This work contemplates the ancient Jarrah forest of southwest Western Australia, defined by Eucalyptus marginata and shaped over centuries by poor soils, fire, and climate. Individual Jarrah can live for up to 500 years, quietly marking the passage of ecological time.
More than 32,000 hectares of Jarrah forest have been cleared for bauxite mining, with a further 11,000 hectares proposed for clearing. Printed on aluminium, the product derived from bauxite, the work embodies ecological fragility and offers a meditation on how these forests hang hauntingly between endurance and erasure, suspended within the cycles of human decisions and governance.
